Pushing the Band Gap Envelope of Quasi-Type II Heterostructured Nanocrystals to Blue: ZnSe/ZnSe <sub> 1- <i>X</i> </sub> Te <i> <sub>X</sub> </i> /ZnSe Spherical Quantum Wells

Quasi-type II heterostructured nanocrystals (NCs) have been of particular interest due to their great potential for controlling the interplay charge carriers. However, lack material choices quasi-type NCs restricts accessible emission wavelength from red near-infrared (NIR), which hinders use in light-emitting applications that demand a wide range visible colors. Herein, we demonstrate new class nanoemitters formulated ZnSe/ZnSe 1- X Te /ZnSe seed/spherical quantum well/shell heterostructures (SQWs) whose ranges blue orange. In given geometry, ZnSe emissive layers grown between seed and shell layer are strained fit into surrounding media, thus, lattice mismatch is effectively alleviated. addition, composition dimension engineered tailor distribution energy electron hole wave functions. Benefitting capabilities tune carriers on form defect-free heterojunctions, /ZnSe/ZnS show near-unity photoluminescence yield ( PL QY &gt; 90 % ) broad wavelengths (peak PL 450 nm 600 nm). Finally, exemplify dichromatic white NC-based diodes (NC-LEDs) employing mixed blue- yellow-emitting SQW NCs.
